VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Francis named 15 new cardinals Sunday, selecting them from 14 nations, including far-flung corners of the world such as Tonga, New Zealand, Cape Verde and Myanmar, to reflect the diversity of the church and its growth in places like Asia and Africa compared to affluent regions.

Kentucky plane crash killed four family members: police

(Reuters) – The crash of a small plane in the Kentucky woods took the lives of a mother and father and their young daughter, along with a teenage cousin, state police said on Saturday. The crash Friday night killed 49-year-old Marty Gutzler, his 45-year-old wife Kimberly Gutzler, their nine-year-old daughter Piper Gutzler and 14-year-old Sierra Wilder, a cousin, according to Kentucky State Police. The family was from Nashville, Illinois, police said. The only survivor was a seven-year-old girl who was able to walk to a nearby home to seek help.
